If you don't have ANY time and want something VERY fast, the Asia Green Garden Matcha Latte Classic sold at Aldi could be the answer to your prayers.

We fell into the temptation offered by the supermarket chain and tried it. As indicated in the title, we're talking about the original or classic, as it also comes in strawberry and mango flavors, but our courage only goes so far.

We already tried it at the time Aldi Matcha, direct competition of the famous Matcha from MercadonaLet's just say we weren't particularly convinced. Let's see what Asia Green Garden's new offering has to offer. 

Price, ingredients and nutritional information

And what is the price of Asia Green Garden's Original Matcha Latte? You can find it at for a price of 1.65 eurosEach box contains six 14-gram bags. And each contains only 4% of matcha tea. With a Nutriscore of 6We recommend preparing it with water, as it already contains 18% of skimmed milk powder.

Properties

If you're wondering about the properties of Aldi's new matcha latte, the answer is that they're the same as any other, beyond the quality or flavor. You can read our article about the properties of matcha tea to get an idea.

But remember that this matcha latte powder only contains 41% of matcha tea. We know the product is produced in Poland, but regarding the origin of the matcha, they only state that it comes from "non-EU countries."

How to prepare the Aldi matcha latte?

Like other similar products, preparation is quick and easy.

Pour the contents into the mug, add hot water or milk (150 ml at 80 degrees Celsius is recommended), and stir well. It can also be served cold, saving you a little more time by not having to boil the water or milk.

As a quick and convenient option, this instant matcha latte delivers. It also dissolves in cold water or milk, so you can enjoy a cold matcha latte—our favorite, especially in summer.

But this is actually far from what a minimally decent matcha latte should be in terms of flavor. It's neither sweet nor bitter; it's a mild but unrecognizable flavor. As you can see in the photo, the color alone tells you that the matcha is of low quality, which is logical considering it's going to be used in a preparation mixed with powdered milk.

That's probably why they've also launched strawberry and mango versions. At least in this case, you don't have to go through the horror of combining ceremonial matcha with fruit juice.

In short, if you're not at all fussy about matcha and are looking for something quick and convenient in the hopes of enjoying the beneficial properties of our favorite tea.
